I have the JT Delta airsoft goggles and last weekend they fogged like the top of a mountain during a rainstorm (it was raining oddly enough). I have heard that drilling a few small holes in the face can help with venting. Is this a good idea or not? I would think this could compromise the strength of the goggle. It has vents on top, but i think my boonie hat was preventing the ventilation from happening. I am also considering a fan. Any recommendations on that. I am not sold on the mesh masks, so I would prefer to keep the full eye protection.

i have two versions of the fan mask/goggles. As nice as they are, both are heard from 20' + when in use. You should PM Hammerhead. He made his own that works like a charm and is virtually silent to boot.

Your right about the boonie hat contributing to fogging. I typically wear shooting glasses that wrap around (not the safest for shots aimed at you from over your shoulder but I love them). Even with anti-fog spray on them they will fog if laying still on a humid and warm day. They fog pretty quickly if the boonie hat is not flipped up. Might not look cool but I go for practical over looking cool. I also have thermal goggles (two lenses with a space between them) that are fog resistant. The thicker the lense the longer it takes to fog too. They fog pretty quick on a bad day. The guy that just responded has a mesh goggle but then he wears his glasses under so they were fogging on him! The mesh goggles solved one problem though. The one thing I didn't like about the fans is not so much that other people can hear them but since the fan is so close to you it impacts your hearing. Sight and sound is everything to me and the noise from a fan would drive me nuts. However it might come to that this summer! Anyone that beats the fogging problem in humid areas while playing outside please post!

if you like the plastic mask like paintball then i suggest a vforce profiler they run about 85 90 bucks but definately worth it. i have one for speed ball and it works wonders. also if you can keep moving to let the air circulate on the lens then it will help in stopping the fog from forming but if youre playing and have to camp on a position or cant avoin holding a position then a fan or well vented goggle such as the profiler will help emensely

a fan or the vforce can be purchased from www.pevs.com

Thanks for the info, I will check around for a fan. I really like the JT goggle because it is extremely low profile, i also found that there were two vents being blocked on the bottom, so that might help with the fogging issue. Any other good places to look for fans?

I am looking at a fan for my JT mask. The thing about fans though is they will impair your hearing---but only when on. You shouldn't have to play with them of very often. For instance in our last game the only time my goggles fogged up was after i have been moving for 30min and then sat still for 15. If i would have had a fan i would have switched it on for a minute or so and it should have taken care of the problem. Then i could switch it off again so it would not affect my hearing.

I am also looking at the ESS goggles for outdoor play. With a headnet mabey? We'll see if they fog or not, but apparently Tim from Bedsog likes them a lot--although they aren't cheap!

gotta love the mesh mask =D

My prescription glasses still fog occasionally but a little bit of movement and airflow through the mmesh clears em right up.

Another reason Airsoft rocks, the mesh mask. Once you get one you will never go back to plastic lenses.

Alright... I have a V-Force Sheild with the yellow lens. No troubles with fogging (knocking on wood), but I also have a SKULZ mask and it fogged like crazy! To get past it I used an old remedy.... shaving cream. I smeared a layer of shaving cream across the inside of the lens, allowed it to sit for a minute or two, and wiped clean with tissue. No fog for play. I do this every time before I go play and I don't have trouble.

P.S.
A friend has a V-Force Profiler and has taken several BB's through the front of the mask (the soft rubber chin)... he has since taped across the inside to prevent that from re-occuring.

Just my $.02

I just recently bought an ESS Profile NVG goggle with prescription insert setup, and a couple containers of Cat Crap, which is due to arrive this week. I'll let you all know how it turned out.

Comes with two interchangeable lenses (clear and smoke grey for the sunny days), and with the Rx inserts, I no longer have to worry about breaking my $450 glasses.

Total cost for the goggles with Rx: $230 shipped. Even if I do still get a little bit of moderate fogging, it's worth it so I don't have to worry about breaking my every day-wear glasses.

Itsahak was kind enough to let me borrow his goggles that he wasn't using. (ESS Turbofan) and they were great. I used them last Saturday when it was close to 100 out and real humid (you sweat like crazy standing still) ---anytime they started to fog i just flipped the fan on for a sec. I will be looking around for a pair of my own here soon!

AirsoftArms.com carries a GREAT anti-fog solution, that actually works! And it's cheap. $1.99.

Ships outta Ohio so you guys would probably have it within 2 days, I think, since I recall most of you are East Coasters.

Yeah I used CatCrap and it didn't work at all, but it may have had to do with the goggles, which are just cheap eye protection that look like swim goggles but were made for airsoft. It also may have not helped that it was 95 degrees with 75% humidity that day. I have the JT USA Delta mask and it seems to have great ventilation. The only fogging I get it if I am camped out stalking out a position without moving (outdoors). I can't complain about that especially since the mask was only $20.

I flat out love my ESS! I can fog just about anything and the ESS have never had an issue. You can find them at JAX online for about $95 shipped (minus the RX inserts). Either that or a mesh mask/goggle are the only fog free solutions i've found. ( I do have an Extreme Rage Echo 20/20 with a fan, but the fan is LOUD!!
