View Full Version : Defend Bank

We did a hostage scenario on Friday that ended up being very one sided, but I think we could refine it a bit for a better game.

The game was about 12 on 12 with a hostage in the bank. Full field at ACQB, vent open.

Three man team guarded the hostage in the bank. Two man team guared C (myself included there). Everyone else split between A and Main Street.

It ended up being one sided because the assault force had nothing going for it. All limited access ways were guarded, there was no flank to surprise from, and the numbers were even.

In future versions of this I propose:
Call it Defend Bank, Bank Heist, Bomb in the Bank, whatever. Goal is to get the assault team to secure the bank. Also, this way, there's no hostage to get bored and start shooting the metal pole for entertainment. :)

Lopside the teams. Instead of 12 on 12, say 14 vs. 10 or 15 vs. 9; depending on experience of the teams and how many newbies are playing.

That should make for a more interesting game; but I had a lot of fun defending the back half (instead of just the usual defend embassy or A building).

Just and idea.

Even teams might work in case that the attacking team actually plans an assault properly. As the game was played, they tried to split up, such that they were engaging at equal levels against an enemy that had position on them... As such, they got massacred.

Had the assault team sent everybody up the vent shaft, the game would have been much different.

I liked the scenario, though, and it has potential.

I think this one has potential as well. I think the problem with the one time we played (I was on the defending team in this game) was that the defenders decided that we were going to go on the offensive. I think the attackers were under the impression that they could just stroll up and start attacking the bank. When they meet me and another veteran in the corridors of A they were stopped dead in their tracks.

What the attackers should have done was:
1. Put two guards in the warehouse to guard their flank on B door
2. Assault the mail hall and vent shaft.

If that has made a coordinated effort to take the vent and/or main hall they would have had a change. Their other problem was that there were a lot of newbs on the team and we all know what that leads to...

A target rich environment. :D

hey cool better than tearing up the embassy. any new games are good for a try, except the bio one.

I agree on the bio one. It is a great concept, but the problem is in the complication. People forget what they are supposed to do and everything just turns into a death match.

I like realism scenarios better than just run-and-gun; but unfortunately there are always the ex-paintballers or newbies that just want to run and shoot -- so realistic scenarios don't always work.

Oh well, as long as I get to shoot people :)
