Greetings to all!
I come in peace... (except for airsoft battles) ;p
I've nvr held a bb gun in 3 yrs. i used to play wid some spring guns, but now i wanna move up a lvl - AEG lvl.
since i don't hav a full-time job (i'm a hs senior), i can't rly invest much on aeg's yet. i've been doing some research abt aeg's wid d help of internet.
Here are the questions:
-i'm planning to buy the ***B.E. M10A SL8/SL9*** and the ***J.G. M4A1 Carbine***. both hav hi-cap mags. i'll also buy scopes for em. i'm pretty confident about the M4A1's quality. Is the B.E. SL8/9's durability respectable?
-i take care of my things rly well. how long do u think these guns will last? any suggestions on how i could make them last longer(maintenance)?
-will the T.M. Tracer unit fit into the J.G. M4A1? how abt the B.E. SL8/9?

Welcome to the forums, just as a suggestion you might get people to respond if you write out everything that you are trying to say rather than using the IM speak, people tend not to like that as much.
As for your questions:
I don't know from personal experience but I've heard fairly consistantly that B.E. is probably not a company that you are going to want to buy from. Their guns are cheap but from what I hear their quality control leaves a lot to be desired. Anyways you probably don't want to start out buying two guns at once, get one and see how you like it. This is especially true if money is a bit tight, no sense in buying two weapons to begin with as you can only ever be using one at a time.
The J.G. gun should be a fairly good gun for you. A side note here, if you are going to get a scope that magnifies you don't need anything over 3x or 4x magnification. The range the guns get means that using anything over that tends to be pointless and hinder you more than it helps. If you are talking about a Red Dot then you won't have to worry about magnification.

thanks for the advice and the answers!
and yeah - i think starting with one gun would be better.
*so here's my NEW plan:
-get a J.G. M4A1 Carbine (which many airsofters say is a 'perfect' clone of the T.M. M4A1 Carbine).
-scope -> i'll be getting a red-dot scope
-will a T.M. Tracer Unit fit the J.G. M4? if it does, then i'll buy one ;p
(i really really need ur answer/s on this one because i don't want to spend $100+ on a tracer unit and not be able to get anything from it)
-get 20,000 0.20 BB's and 4,000+ Tracer BB's
-bi-pod just for additonal fun (: or for displaying the gun ;)
-get some protective gear

If you have the money for that tracer unit, why don't you buy a better quality rifle? The JG is a "perfect clone" of the Tm m4 in the sense that it has compatible parts. Though it in no sense of the word "perfect" is nearly as reliable as the TM. I suggest buying a CA m15 if you have the money, which is what we at ACME usually suggest to people.
There's no need (in my and many others' opinions) to "pimp" out a cheap gun. This is coming from somebody who's taken a galaxy mp5pdw and made it far better than any other mp5k out there). It can be done, but you spend a lot more than you need to than if you were to just buy a good gun to start with.
Short and simple, don't buy a clone if you have the money to buy a better AEG.

Sorry I don't have an answer about the tracer unit, though honestly unless you intend to play in a whole lot of low light situations I don't think it would be much more than a waste of money.
I also notice that you put "protective gear" last on that list, don't skimp on that to make your gun look cooler to you. Thats one of the more important items you need for airsoft (I am assuming here that you mean eye protection and such).
Brazzle is probably right. If you are sure that this is going to be something that you want to do you might want to look at some higher end guns. I'd also leave whatever gun you get exactly as it came to you the first time you play with it (other than adjusting sights and hop up of course). Take it from a person who spent a whole heck of a lot of money on stuff that doesn't get used enough to really justify it. I bought a RDS and magnifying scope for my CA M15A4 Carbine right after I got it and honestly I use my iron sights more than the other two combined. After using it a couple of times is when I would start to make decisions about accesories.

yeah - i had a look at the CA M15A4 Carbine and I liked it a lot (I just didn't like the price! lol!). oh yeah - when i put the protective gear as the last on the list, i didn't mean it to be the least important... I heard that there is an airsoft arena opening soon in Rockville, MD (13 minutes away from where i live). After football season, I might go there with some of my friends to talk to Elites, meet new people, and hopefully join a team.
back to the CA M15 -> i'll just get that one. because i thought that the TM tracer unit will last a lot longer than the JG carbine lol!
woops! Will the TM tracer unit fit into the CA M15?

You can always look at for sale boards:
ASF (http://www.airsoftforum.com/board/index.php?showforum=78)
Arnies (http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/index.php?showforum=13)
ASR (http://www.airsoftretreat.com/classifieds/)
and... VAF (http://www.maapr.com/virginiaairsoft/phpbb2/viewforum.php?f=4&sid=98c1ceacfdcc25f300d954e1641cf6bd)
Some guns are usally (always) over priced but you can wait untill reality sinks in and prices are lowered.

In the meantime, theres a field in Manassas, VA, probably only about 35-40 minutes from where you are. You'll find several experienced teams down there, including three from this board. All of them are very friendly and would, im assuming, be more then happy to answer questions you may have and you can get some field time in. there is also a full service store down there as well. Its the place to be on friday nights.

Since I'm bored at the moment, here are a couple reviews of the guns you listed:
JG G36C (http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/reviewpost/showproduct.php/product/652/sort/2/cat/16/page/1)
ICS M4 (http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/reviewpost/showproduct.php/product/303/sort/2/cat/16/page/4)
Hope this helps.

got this gun last Friday! it's awesome! i love the heavy weight and the sound of the gearbox is perfect (both semi and auto). the separated upper and lower gearbox makes it easier for me (a newbie at aeg) to explore the mechanics of the gun.
and LOL! I had a problem yesterday. I charged the battery for 3 hours and put it in the aeg. But, the gun won't work. I charged it for another hour - but the gun still won't shoot. so, i disassembled the gun (but not the gearbox because I knew there was nothing wrong with it) to see what the problem was. I did so with the help of ICS M4 assembly/disassembly videos on youtube. I plugged the battery onto the motor and found out that it was either the motor or the battery (the motor ran weakly and would eventually stop). i figured that maybe if i charge the battery into another outlet in the house, something different will happen. And something different did happen. The motor was AWESOME again! And became "awsomer" because I learned a lot more...
p.s. I made the right decision with buying an aeg rather than mpeg!!!
and this site made it possible! thank you!

Have you had a chance to hook up your tracer unit yet?
I think you will not find it a waste of time. ;)

i have the tracer rounds, but the tracer unit hasn't arrived yet... i've been waiting for 3 weeks for my tracer unit - the online supplier is so slow (NOT evike.com)...
anyway, these are some pictures of my M4 R.A.S.

Nice choice on you first gun. The ICS should last you a while compared to the JG one. Have fun with it and hope to see you at TAA someday.
