View Full Version : TM Tracer Unit Question (question for the PAIN guys)
For the TM tracer units, does it matter if there is some of the inner barrel extending out past the threads?
I'm thinking about the possibility of putting a tracer unit on one of my guns, but the inner barrel extends for about an inch to an inch and a half beyond the threads on the muzzle (normally covered up by the flash-hider). Is this a problem?

Check where the sensor is at the front of the tracer unit, if the barrel passes it, then your tracer will just light up constantly because its tripping the motion sensor, if not, then you're good.

I don't own a tracer unit, but I think you'd be ok. As I understand it the light source is at the back of the barrel so length shouldn't enter into the equation.
Which gun? If it’s an M4 just get the tracer mags. They'll cost you a fraction of the amount.
Thinking about this logically, the sensor is probably towards the back, while the actual light is at the front... But that's just if I had to design something like that myself, and not from actual experience.
Assuming it's for the gun I think it's for, I'd see if you can't find a barrel extender somewhere.

look in the tracer unit when you hook it up... the sencer is a red laser that is easy enough to see... it is about 1 inch deep from the threading so as long as you have not gone that far past you should be golden...
well, the gun i plan on putting on it is a SAW...
and I don't actually have a tracer unit, so i was hoping that one of you guys who already has one could tell me about how far in the sensor was. :p
Tracer unit (homemade internal)
I thought this (http://www.airsoftretreat.com/forums/index.php?topic=4445.0) was a neat idea, but truth it could be done easier with a simple uv led flashlight mounted in the magwell. Might have to give it a try when I finally get an income. :D

I have the tracer on my CA M15 M4A1 CQB it is the coooolest thing that i have ever seen. It draws a crowd and everyone wants to shoot it and has never seen anything like it before.
The only thing that sucks is the part that you screw the barrel into is plastic so you have to be careful not to strip it or break it. I wish they were metal. Do you guys know if they sell a metal piece for the tracer that you screw the barrel into?

Haven't found one. If I had I would have condsidered getting it...
does it come with some way to mount it to clockwise threads, rather than only CCW?

hmmm not sure, but if not im sure since its plastic you might be able to put a heli-coil kit in it.....
